Musings about what could have been, my darling, Clementine

lyrics

my name is Lemon Arabella
my dad's an electrician
my mom is a librarian
or am I Juniper Grey?
or Clementine?
never could decide

I attend college in the cosmos
devouring literature, wearing my mother's shoes
and on the weekends, I'm at punk shows
I helped build the stage with my daddy's tools

I grew up somewhere in the country
in a modest house with a deck and garden
spent the summers at my uncle's
somewhere in upstate New York
and I've learned so much from my aunties on my mother's side
they all can sing and draw and write
and my daddy plays piano
he showed me the way
always so patient and kind

I have my mother's eyes
and my father's nose
I have their curly hair
and some of their hand-me-down clothes

all I've wanted was to live
outside of their heads
outside of their heads
all I've wanted was to live
outside of their heads
outside of their heads
if you want me to live,
please make amends
or else I will be dead

I just want to live
outside of your head
